SHORT RESUME

The true "discovery" of Africa began in the 15th century. In 1460, Diogo Gomes discovers Cape Verde.

During the second half of the 15th century, the Portuguese established trading posts, and at the turn of the century Bartolomeu Dias doubled the Cape of Good Hope, opening the doors to the colonization of the eastern coast of Africa by the Europeans.

Famous Writer: Mia Couto, pseudonym of António Emílio Leite Couto, was born in 1955 in Mozambique. His work is published in more than 22 countries and translated into German, French, Spanish, Catalan, English and Italian.
