SHORT RESUME
The true "discovery" of Africa began in the 15th century. In 1460, Diogo Gomes discovers Cape Verde.
During the second half of the 15th century, the Portuguese established trading posts, and at the turn of the century Bartolomeu Dias doubled the Cape of Good Hope, opening the doors to the colonization of the eastern coast of Africa by the Europeans.
